Primary Health

The Nine Mile Urban Clinic is
our oldest program, and still one of our most significant works. This is
a joint HOPE worldwide (PNG)/Government Clinic in the poor but quickly growing
squatter settlement area in the north-east of the city. The clinic is
one of the busiest health facilities in the city, and has an excellent
reputation, with many patients coming in from surrounding provincial
areas, or other parts of the city.
The clinic offers primary health care, nutrition
and immunisation checks for infants, family planning, antenatal health,
and has special clinics for tuberculosis and also HIV/AIDS and other
sexually transmitted diseases.
We also support an Aid Post in Bokolma village in
the remote Gumine District of Simbu province in the Highlands, in
partnership with the local community. With support from PNG Sustainable
Development Ltd., we have been able to provide a range of needed medical
equipment to this Aid Post and other health facilities in Gumine.
